With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Clara M. Sumner of Peoria, Illinois, who passed away on April 3, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the echoes of fond remembrance, may a sense of peace be found, knowing that the memories held dear will continue to shape and inspire her loved ones, keeping Clara's spirit alive in the hearts and actions of family and friends alike. While her presence may be gone, her impact lives on in the kindness shown to others and the joy found in the ordinary moments of life.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leland Strawbridge and Elsie Strawbridge; her husband Dr. Ronald E. Sumner; and her son Gary Griggs. She is survived by: her children, Troy "Dewayne" Griggs (MaryAnn) and Patty McEvoy; her stepchildren, Brad Sumner (Linda) and Becky Pritchard (Ken); and her daughter-in-law Andrea Griggs. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Wilton Mortuary (2101 Knoxville Ave, Peoria, IL 61603).
