She was predeceased by: her parents, Freda Burns (McGinnis) and Hobart Burns; her siblings, Robert, William Burns and Joann Hammond; and her husband Morris E. Grimes.

She is survived by: her sons, Bryan Grimes (Becky) of Pekin, Barry Grimes (Marsha) of Pekin and Brent Grimes of Peoria; her grandchildren, Jessica Hart (Brian), Samantha Grimes of Palm Bay, Cara (Shane Grimes), Jack Grimes of Washington, IL, Anthony Carlyle (Emmy) of Marquette Heights, Tyler Carlyle (Seirah) of Washington and Whitney Cooper (Ashley) of Pekin; her sister Barbara Carter of Peru; and her sister-in-law Shirley Grimes of Salisbury. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory (500 N 4th St, Pekin, IL 61554). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
