With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alfred James Hooks (Peoria, Illinois), born in Savannah, Georgia, who passed away on January 18, 2022 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar C. Hooks and Eva Hooks; and his siblings, Oscar C. Hooks, Jr. and Pam Hooks Steverson. He is survived by: his wife Clara Johnson; his children, Lori Cawthorne (Malcolm) of Chestnut, MA and Malcolm Hooks (Andrea) of Chicago, IL.; his stepchildren, Tiphanie Morris of Montgomery, IL, Nakita Morris of Peoria, IL. and Levar Morris (Julia) of Evansville, IN.; his sisters, Alma Russ (Merrill) of Vero Beach, FL. and Janis Hornsby (James) of Bedford, TX.; his grandchildren, Mariah, Nia, Kellian, Mason, Kelis, Jordon, Tyson, Parker and Madison; and his great grandchild Ryan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carver Community Center 710 W. Percy Baker Jr. Ave. Peoria, IL. 61605 or Peoria Area Food Bank 721 W. McBean Street Peoria, IL. 61605.
