He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Richard and Beulah Frances Luft (Jolly); his grandson Marshall Lawson; and his brother Thomas Lee Luft. He is survived by: his former wife Janice Thornton; his wife Jill Massey of Alton; his granddaughter Morgan; his children, Scott Luft (Carmen), Mark Luft (Lelonie), Julie Guidotti (Derek) and Darcy Lawson (Chris); his grandchildren, Matthew Luft, Andrew Luft (Krista), Elizabeth Kaeb (Jeff), Michael Luft (Sarah), Abby Dobrei, Gaby Peyton and Garrett Lawson; his cousin Joanne Miller (Luft); and his brother Denny Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Illinois CancerCare Foundation, 8940 West Wood Sage Road, Peoria, IL 61615 or to Pekin Salvation Army, 243 Derby Street, Pekin, IL 61554.

“Jill and all, Nancy and I just learned of Dick's passing yesterday. Please know that we are thinking of you all during this time. A quick thought involves a road that I just drove on - Veterans' Drive. Dick and Tom Homer were bipartisan supporters of its creation after meeting with Carol Shields and Denny Kief -approximately 30 years ago. They secured 1/2 million dollars to support a feasibility study and its eventual creation - quite a legacy, I believe. Our prayers are with you.”
