He was predeceased by: his parents, Mahlon Downer and Arlene Downer (Barlow); and his granddaughter Alexis "Lexi" Wendel. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Hosek; his children, Debbi Wendel of Tremont, Lori Weeks (Ray) of Washington and Jeff Downer (Susan) of North Pekin; and his grandson Aaron Weeks (Annie) of Pekin.

In honor of his granddaughter, Lexi, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Midwest Affiliate, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61637.
