He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Smith and Catherine Smith (Kittner); and his brothers, Jimmy, Leo and Glen David Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Ingrid Baecker; his children, Rodney Smith of San Jose and Brenda Akins (Floyd) of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Nina and Tyler; and his siblings, Wayne of Honesdale, PA, Alex Smith of Honesdale, PA and Kathleen Dougher of Honesdale.
