It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernard LaVon Ator of Pearl, Illinois, born in Pleasant Hill, Illinois, who passed away on September 20, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Ator and Bertha Collins Ator; his parents-in-law, Clyde and Julia Holloway; his granddaughter Rashelle Cox; his great grandchild Bo Buss; and his daughter-in-law Janice Ator.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ator; his children, Judy Cox (Charlie) of Pittsfield, IL, Jim Ator (Sandy) of Big Rock, TN, Bona Jean Martens of Blair, OK, Jerry Paul Ator (Stephanie Bess) of Oquawka, IL and Joanne Smith (Carl) of Nebo, IL; and his grandchildren, Rodney Cox (Shelli), Jeramy Cooper (Shasti), Brian Collier (Corrie), Benjamin Collier (Blake), Melissa Charles (Bobby), Julia Roach, William Martens, Chris Ator (Michelle), Elisha Roesel (Phil), Shamus Smith and Megan Buss (Jason). He is also survived by twenty-seven great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
