He was predeceased by: his father William; his brother Bobby; and his son Darrell. He is survived by: his wife Denise Pickett-Thornton; his children, Ebony Thornton, Lee Thornton II, Winona Sneddon (Ryan), Naomi Maclin (Derrick), Kinara Morris, Amber Zachmeyer, Kalyea Thornton and Leon Thornton; his mother Dorothy McGill; and his sisters, Larnette McGill and Birdy Brown. He is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren.
