He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Russell and Mary Ann Whalen Buckles; and his siblings, William G., Edward W. Buckles and Joann Deschamps.

He is survived by: his sister Mary Julita Buckles (Judy) of Pawnee. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
