He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry C. Pence and Hildreth M. Smith Pence; and his siblings, Catherine DeCroix and Henry Charles Pence. He is survived by: his children, Cassandra Ostermeier of Springfield and Alex Pence (Kirsten) of Madison, WI; and his grandchildren, Elijah, Adeline, Dexter and Everly.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Protective League.
