He was predeceased by: his parents, William Fred Koester and Lola Floyd Koester; and his brother John Ross Koester. He is survived by: his wife Rena Koester (Hite) of Paris, IL; his children, Mitchell Koester of California, Eric Koester (Rachel) of Fairmount, IL and Traci Sliba (Jeff) of Floyds Knobs, IN; his grandchildren, Meghan, Ethan, Michael, Gabriel and Avery; his sister Helen Smock of Mattoon, IL; his sister-in-law Anna Koester of Charleston, IL; and also Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Barnes Jewish Hospital, 1 Barnes Jewish Hospital Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63110.
