He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Eitel and Natalie Eitel (Banning). He is survived by: his children, Amy Hibschman (Kevin) of Paris, Stephanie Moody (Jeff) of Paris, Kara Watson (Rud) of Charleston, Mike Phillippi of Louisville and Tami Newlin (Scott) of Paris; his brothers, Ron Eitel of St. Augustine, Chuck of Marshall, Illinois and Fred Eitel of Marshall, Illinois; his grandchildren, Natalie Sherwood (Nathan Ross), Max Moody, Will Moody (Kaitlyn Coombes), Henry Watson and Danielle Newlon (Derek); and his great grandchildren, Miranda and Sydney Newlon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Templeton Funeral Home - Paris (600 E Court St, Paris, IL 61944). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Steve Eitel Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Longview Bank, or to the First Christian Church Permanent Fund.
