He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" Mathis; his daughters, Lisa Brinkerhoff of Des Plaines, Elena Whitaker of Smyrna and Stephanie Kummerer (Rick) of Geneva, Illinois; his brothers, Michael Barath of Bonny Doon and Stephen Barath of Saratoga Springs; his grandchildren, Christopher Brinkerhoff (Kacey) of De Soto, Justin Brinkerhoff (Nina) of Brookfield, Kristina Melhorn (Nick) of Murfreesboro, Jesse Whitaker of Murfreesboro and Alison Kummerer of Geneva; and his great grandchildren, Olivia, Henrietta, Leif and Cooper Brinkerhoff.
