He was predeceased by: his parents, Willoughby Newhart and Leila Newhart (McCallister); his wife Karen M. Parks; and his siblings, Edward, Charles, Floyd Newhart, Zella Smitley, Freida Welch, Betty Graham and Ruth Ann Tessman.
He is survived by: his daughter Stacy Carrington of Mattoon; his brother Roger Newhart of Terre Haute, Indiana; his grandchildren, Seth and Sasha Newhart; and his great grandchildren, Cody of Mattoon and Mackenzie Newhart of Mattoon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to First Christian Church of Paris or to the American Heart Association.
