He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. "Tiny" Lankster and Rena Lankster (Aldridge); his son James E. Lankster; and his siblings, Clarence, Gary Lankster, Faye Smith, Bertha Hyde and Emley Hylton.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ardenia Rogers; his children, Thomas Leonard Lankster (Carla) of Edwardsville, Viveca Roxanne Lankster of Roberts, Martina Rhanea Kerr (Ken) of Mercer and Jeanne Lankster (Scott Kerrick) of Paris; his stepchildren, Roger Dale Shockley (Sandy) of Monticello, Georgia, Rick Shockley (Becky) of Sarasota and Betty Lou Gleckler (Lyle) of Paris; his siblings, Cordelle of Henagar, Alabama, Wayne Lankster of Henagar, Alabama and Gladis Hamilton of Saucier, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Abby Gonzales, Sherri Willis, Adam Lindsey, Maygan, Rob Kerr, Clint and Brett Gleckler; and his pet Rexella. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
