He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleo Smitley and Dorothy Smitley (Sheets); his wife Zella; his siblings, Evelyn Rund and Edgar Smitley; and his son-in-law John Setzer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cheryl Freas (Tom) of LaPorte, Indiana and Marcia Setzer Calabria (Don) of Plainfield, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Todd Manolovits of Auburn, Indiana, Jennifer Condon (Kevin) of St. Peters, Missouri and Troy Manolovits (Amy) of Guthrie, Oklahoma.; his great grandchildren, Casey, Rebecca, Elisabeth, Kathleen and Austin; his son Gunner; his great grandchild Kaitlin; his sister Barbara Ross of Chrisman, Illinois; his brothers-in-law, Larry Newhart of Paris and Roger Newhart of Terre Haute, Indiana; and also Maylee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
