He was predeceased by: his parents, Liborio Vitale and Pietra Vitale; his wife Maria Pia Trupiano; his son Antonino Vitale; and his sister Maria Vitale.

He is survived by: his children, Josephine Vitale of Paris, Eno Vitale (Trisha) of Paris, Tony Vitale (Sarah) of Tuscola and Pete Vitale (Laura) of Shelbyville, Illinois; his siblings, Faro Vitale of Cinisi and Lina Vitale of Cinisi; his grandchildren, Maria Pia Krieger (Peter), Teresa (Franceska Twigg), Karic (Maria Pia Vitale), Giuseppe "Peppe" (Maria Pia "Mia" Vitale) and Giuseppe "Seppe" (Oliver Vitale); and his great grandchild Ellianna Krieger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
