He was predeceased by: his father David R. Theirl; his stepmother Phyllis Theirl; and his close friend Kevin Craig. He is survived by: his mother Jane Theirl (Bruce); his stepfather Donnie Furry of Paris; his children, Olivia Theirl of Charleston and Ian Theirl of Paris; his siblings, Julie Jackson (Brad) of Peoria, Illinois, Susan Martin (Dustin) of Peoria, Illinois, David McHenry of Champaign, Brian of Paris and Dakota Furry of Paris; his parents-in-law, Gene and Janet Justice of Paris; his sister-in-law Dana Ball of Paris; and his pet Gypsy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Theirl Memorial Education Fund for the benefit of his children, in care of First Mid Bank of Paris.
