He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearyton E. Fowler and Lucille Fowler (Haupt); and his brothers, Charles Wayne Fowler and James Fowler. He is survived by: his wife Donna Davis; his children, Amber Fowler of Paris, Joshua Fowler of Oklahoma City, Matthew Fowler of Paris and Megan Roach of Paris; his brother Ernest Ray Fowler (Rita) of Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Eli of Paris and Emma Roach of Paris.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
