She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Goethuys and Mae Goethuys (Milligan); her son Robert Smart; and her great grandchild Liam Smart. She is survived by: her spouse Hubert "Frank" Smart; her daughter-in-law Carla Smart; her grandchildren, Kyle Smart (Karey), Matthew Kaufman, Michael Smart (Whittney), Jessica Smart and Elizabeth Smart; her great grandchildren, Adalee Smart and Charlotte Smart; and her sisters, Roberta, Mary and Sharron.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 0168 in Pana.
