He was predeceased by: his father Jozef Rakus; and his sibling Bozena Kendzior (Krzysztof). He is survived by: his wife Lottie; his stepson Michael McNulty; his mother Jozefa Rakus; his sibling Dorota Rakus; his nieces and nephews, Katarzyna Kendzior and Izabela Sokol (Michal); and also Liwia. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
