He was predeceased by: his son Salvatore "Sam" Melant; and his parents, Edward Melant and Jean Melant. He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his daughter Christine Triller (Todd); his grandchildren, Audrey, Charlotte and Logan; his brothers-in-law, Bruce DeNardo (Vicki) and Jacob DeNardo; his nieces and nephews, Nicholas DeNardo (Monica), David DeNardo, Jacqueline DeNardo (Zach Pierce) and Sarah DeNardo; his great-nephews, Vincent and Lucas DeNardo; and his pet Brownie.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kerry Funeral Home (7020 W 127th St, Palos Heights, IL 60463). A prayer was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Gianna Parish (10233 S Central Park Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805).
