We bid farewell to Wanda Shields of Palestine, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 27, 2024 at the age of 68. Wanda touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Casey and Isabell Casey; and her husband Oscar Shields. She is survived by: her pets, Mona and Flossie; her children, Charles Vahl, Nicki (Justin Hill), Kalley Vahl and Kari Tye; her children-in-law, Debbie, Brian Medsker, Rhonda, Tim Eller, Becky Mikeworth, Kathy, Daron Hoalt, Wanda and Jim Woodard; her stepson Wesley Vahl; her siblings-in-law, Doug and Becky Shields; and also, Carolyn Newsom, Shirley, Noah Taylor, John, Beverly Casey, Dean, Gwen Casey, Roy, Debbie Casey, Keith and Janice Casey. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren; her siblings.
In honor of Wanda's lifelong dedication to protecting and caring for children, memorial contributions may be made to the "NOW Program," which provides supplemental food for local students.
