He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertie Ervin and Mable Hitt Ervin; and his brothers, George and Dean Ervin. He is survived by: his spouse Erleen Ramsey; his children, Paul Jr., Cherlyn Ervin of Marshall, Paula "Polly" Weaver and John Cogswell of Palestine; and his grandchildren, CJ Weaver (Dannica Waggoner) of Palestine, Katie, Allen Wood of Mt. Carmel, IL, Jessie Weaver of Robinson and Candi Weaver (Bret Payne) of Linton, IN. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
