Jeff Baltes wrote a sympathy message

“I had the wonderful fortune of meeting Joe as a member of the Epilepsy Foundation. Though he was not my case manager, his compassion and enthusiasm extended to everyone he met. He was a consistently bright light in an often difficult world. Through group meetings, outings, and laughter filled exchanges in the hallways, I got to know his caring spirit. The guy had some pretty incredible mascot skills, too. He was and will always be a positive presence in my life. A guide. A true friend.”
