He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron Mitchell and June Mitchell (Penner); his wife Elizabeth Mitchell; and his siblings, Ralph E. Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell, Sr. and Olieta Mitchell.
He is survived by: his sons, Vernon Mitchell, Jr. (Gail) of Bourbonnais and Steven Mitchell of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Joshua Mitchell (Ashleigh) and Kristin Stojcevski (Ilija); and his great grandchildren, Caliana, Madilyn Stojcevski and Hayden Mitchell.
