He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Mata and Lupe Mata (DeLeon); his siblings, Ray Mata and Mary Comacho (Tony); his border collie Lucky; and his pet Lorelei.
He is survived by: his wife Victoria Suniga; his daughters, Carol Ann Mata and Teresa Barron; and his grandson Zachary Barron. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
