With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Josephine McCandless of Ottawa, Illinois, born in Villa Grove, Illinois, who passed away on October 8, 2022 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, R. Lee Simpson and Grace Simpson (Bowen); her granddaughter Sara Jo Treest; her son David S. McCandless; her sister-in-law Edith McCandless; and her grandson Justin Bates.
She is survived by: her husband David McCandless; her children, Susan Bates (Mike), Brian McCandless (Natalie) and Heather Treest (Allan); her grandchildren, Craig (Jessica), Kyle Sokol, Alyson Williams (Christian), Trevor (Anna Claire), Ian, Quinn McCandless, Zac (Andrea), Michael Bates, Nicholas (Addy), Connor and Emma Treest; her great grandchildren, Raeken Treest, Rosalie and Louisa Bates; her siblings-in-law, Peter McCandless (Nalan) and Amy McCandless; her nephews, Alastair and Colin McCandless; and her cousin Sally Stillwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Starved Rock Community Foundation.
