He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elizabeth Kappelman (Borlish) and Milford Kappelman; his wife Carol Sue; his children, Christina Gunther (Roger) of Edwardsville, IL, Lisa Kay Swartz (David) of Michigan City, IN, Dena Rhea Kappelman of Cambridge, IL, Candy Snook (Wade) of Cambridge and Scott Kappelman (Mary Jo) of Orion; his grandchildren, Joshua Gunther (Jordan), Angela Ferando (Blake), Emily Brakhane (Aaron), Kati Watts (Elijah), Trevor Kappelman (Janee), Megan Swartz, Kristin Schult (Jonny), Amber Laux (Alex), Regina May (Clint), Juliun August Cocquit, Victoria Cocquit, Carter Snook, Victor August Snook, Taylor Snook, Tucker Snook, Gunner Snook, Dustin Stees (Tiffany) and BJ Stees (Linley); his great grandchildren, Lileigh Barton (Gunther), Kinzie, Dawson Ferando, Titus, Evalynn, Guinevere Brakhane, Keali, Evea, Ezekiel Watts, Hadleigh, Gretchen, Hunterlynn, River, Chandler Laux, Charlie May, Nathan, Gavin, Madilyn Stees, Kane and Rosalie Stees; his brother-in-law Larry Roach; his nieces and nephews, Stephanie Wittenauer, Sue Schmick (Mike), Nathan Roach (Holly) and Timothy Roach (Emily); his close friend Tony VanDerSnick; his pet Max; his mothers-in-law, Fern and Esther Follin; his brother John Kappelman; his sister-in-law Cathy Roach; and his grandson Noah Snook. He was also cherished by other nieces and a nephew.
