He was predeceased by: his wife Eloise Overzet; his parents, John V. Overzet and Ralphina Overzet; and his parents-in-law, Fred and Lucy Rozema.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Jr. (Desiree), LouAnn Haan (Laurence) and David (Brenda); his grandchildren, Danielle Overzet, Richard Overzet (Kortney), Alex Haan (Cassie), Victoria Black (Drew), Breanna Overzet, Celaine Van Vliet (Dylan) and Trent Overzet (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Grayden Overzet, Coleson Overzet, Louie Haan, Eloise Van Vliet, Hans Van Vliet, Sophia Black and Tate Overzet; and his sisters, Phyllis DeVries (late Lloyd) and Nancy Van Howe (late Thomas).
