He was predeceased by : his son Michael McGrath (Kathleen); and his parents, Michael McGrath and Agnes McGrath. He is survived by : his wife Rita; his daughters, Kathy McGrath and Colleen Mather (Gregory); his grandchildren, Kathleen, Molly Mather, Sean (Samantha) and Daniel McGrath (Shelli-Lynne); and his great grandchildren, Michael and Callan.

Lorie Kaiser wrote a sympathy message

“So sorry for your loss! Mr.McGrath was my 8th grade teacher at Hurley in 1985, but then hired me in 1994 for a year. I could never call him Marty as he was always Mr. McGrath in my eyes. He made learning and passing the constitution fun. He was a great role model and made a great impact in education. As a current teacher of 28 years, I credit my Hurley teachers for giving me the foundation I have . God bless him and you all. My deepest sympathy Lorie ( Szynal) Kaiser”
