He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Gainey and Martha Miller Gainey; and his siblings, Mervin, Darrell "Diz" Gainey and Loretta Hallquist.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy K. Westerlund; his sons, Ty Gainey (Pam) of Orion, Grant Gainey (Rhonda) of Orion, Neil Gainey (Rena) of Eldridge and Kurt Gainey (Mary) of Moline; and his siblings, Evelyn Nichols of Sun City and Gene Gainey (Jeanne) of Yuma, Arizona.. He is also survived by 10 granddaughters, 17 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church or to Honor Flight of the Q.C. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family with arrangements.
