He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bolhous and Magdalena Bolhous (Eckhardt); his brother Charles Bolhous; and his brother-in-law Jim Brown. He is survived by: his siblings, Charlotte Spickler (Everett) of Mount Morris, Larry Bolhous (Virginia) of Monroe, WI, Darrell Bolhous (Beth) of Rochelle, Kathy Brown of Rockfalls, Mary Ann Burdette (Steven) of Oregon, David Bolhous of Oregon and Muriel "Bubbles" Casinger (Joe) of Oregon; and his pets, Harvey "Harv Harv" and Butterfly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund is established in Melvin Bolhous' name for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL and for an animal rescue shelter.
