(Opdyke, Illinois), born in Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on May 3, 2019, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Wanda Maxine Wilson; and his son Marlin Kent Smith. He is survived by: his close friend Gerri Boone of Mount Vernon, Illinois; his children, Gregory Smith (Nancy) of Carbondale, Douglas Smith of Fort Worth, Texas and Marla Brown of Carterville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Brittany Simpson (Trenton), Lindsey Brown (Clinton Pierson), Melissa Brown, Alaina Smith, Emily Smith and Brian Clover; his great grandchild Gunnar Dale Simpson; and his sister Joyce Ann Hawkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the St. Francis CARE Animal Shelter in Murphysboro, Illinois.
