He was predeceased by: his parents, Vaughn "Sparky" and Jessie Johnson (McCormick); and his brother Dennis Johnson. He is survived by: his sister Trudy Kremer of Oneida; his nieces, Kelly Scott of Altona and Kristy Swanson of Oneida; his nephew Kraig Pugh (Kylie) of Williamsfield, Illinois; and his close friend Shannon Reynolds of Galesburg.
