He is survived by: his children, John Akai (Julie), Mary Kamis (David), James Akai (Bonnie), Susan Matz (David), David Akai (late Margaret Graeber-Akai), Nancy Boyle (Patrick) and Lisa Palermini (late James Palermini); his stepsons, Edward Liccar (Mary Jo), Michael Liccar (Debbie) and Joseph Liccar (Cathy); and his sister-in-law Nancy Powers.
