He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilmer J. and Edna; his former wife Gloria Goehner Knewitz; and his brother-in-law Joe Goeser. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his daughters, Barbara Cioffi (Michael) of Castleton, Cynthia Hoffman (Patrick) of Bakersfield and Deborah Brown of Johns Island, S. C.; his stepdaughter Michelle Mangrum of Cuba; his grandchildren, Kayla, Sean Brown and Tyler; his stepgrandchildren, Brandyn, Cameron, Clayton, Damen and Hayden Mangrum; his great grandchildren, Harper White and Layla Mangrum; his sister Colleen Goeser of Sugarland; and his cousin Joyce Lurtz of O'Fallon.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, memorial donations are suggested to either O'Fallon Band Boosters, or O'Fallon Fire Department.
