He was predeceased by: his parents, Russel Sr. Murphy and Maysel Murphy; his sister Sharon Johnson; and his parents-in-law, Norwin and Norma Wernecke.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Murphy of Dix, IL; his daughter Sarah Malawy (Joey) of Nashville, IL; his grandchildren, Jessica and Clayton Malawy; his siblings, Charlotte Hudson (Mitchell) of South Charleston, WV and Robert Murphy (Joyce) of Hope Hull, AL; and his brother-in-law Dennis Wernecke of Nashville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alumni and Friends Association for the benefit of the Immanuel Lutheran School in Okawville.
