With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Leon Burnes of Okawville, Illinois, born in East Saint Louis, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 18, 2024 at the age of 78. He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Burnes and Dessie Burnes; his wife Sharon Fay Newton; his children, Sherry Stockton and William Burnes; his brothers, Jack, Leo and Lloyd Burnes; and his grandson Jerry Eppig.
He is survived by: his children, Gwynne Allison (Pete) of New Baden, IL, Richard Burnes Jr. (Teresa) of Johannisburg and Eric Burnes (Heather) of Festus, MO; and his siblings, Robert Burnes (Connie) of Western, FL, Dale Burnes of Duquoin, IL and Shirley Seyferth of Dupo, IL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
