It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward J Holtgrewe of Okawville, Illinois, who passed away on November 12, 2020, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Holtgrewe and Augusta Holtgrewe; his wife Ruth Joellenbeck; his son Alan Holtgrewe; his grandchildren, Amber Zapp and Cody Holtgrewe; his siblings, Roland Holtgrewe, Helen Toensing (Norman), Elaine Schwengels (Hank) and Eleanor Holtgrewe; and his brothers-in-law, Roy Joellenbeck (Kay), Harry Severs, Paul Ayers and Harold Becker.
He is survived by: his children, Ann Daniel (Chuck) of Belleville, Nancy McKerracher of New Baden, IL and Michael Holtgrewe (Carmen) of Ashley, IL; his grandchildren, Heather Zapp, Danielle Zapp (Ben Liptak), Aaron McKerracher (Trisha), Tiffany McKerracher (Anthony Formigoni), Brandon, Hank Holtgrewe, Cory and Caleb Daniel; his great grandchildren, Kadence Farrell, Thomas Docherty, Shana, Alistair McKerracher, Scarlette, Greyson Holtgrewe, Masyn, Rowyn, Caden Daniel and Emmah Formigoni; and his siblings-in-law, Albert Joellenbeck (Shirley) of Florissant, MO, Nora Severs of Norfolk, NE, Melba Holtgrewe of Okawville, Florence Ayers of Beaver Creek, OH and Alice Becker of Okawville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul (White Church) Cemetery or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
