He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Shields and Yvonne Shields (Dauck); and his sister Kim. He is survived by: his wife Laurie Hebel of Oglesby; his son Ben Shields of Oglesby; his stepdaughter Elena Ridley (Joe) of Tonica; his siblings, David Shields (Mandy) of Bella Vista, AR and Nancy Hybki (Greg) of Oglesby; and his granddaughter Georgia June.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to establish a scholarship in his name at Illinois State University.
