He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Herbst and Alice Herbst (Marten); his daughter Beth Ann; his siblings, Donald and Doris; and his stepdaughter Patricia "Patty".
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Kreiser-Herbst of Oglesby; his children, Mark Herbst (Rebecca) of Yuba City, CA, Karen Noto of Tonica and Lori Resco-Garcia (Jimmie) of Las Vegas, NV; his stepchildren, Karla Weger (John) of Oglesby, Joan Harris (Kenneth) of Peru, Debbie Stein (Bud) of Tinley Park, Greg Kreiser (Sherry) of Lostant, Eric Kreiser (Rachel) of Tonica, Brett Hazen of Oglesby and Billy Hazen of Mendota; his grandchildren, Katherine, Alexander, Lauren, Kari, Travis and Danielle; his great grandchildren, Berek, Beckham and Charlie; and his sister Sandra Gabelt of New Mexico. He is also survived by many other step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hurst Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
