He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rugen and Dorothy Rugen (Johnson Gatten); his former wife Gloria; and his siblings, John and Carol.
He is survived by: his son Kozell; his wife Sandra Rugen of Oglesby; and his children, John Rugen (Bonnie) of Iowa, Michael Rugen Jr. of Oglesby, Jeff Rugen of Madison Heights and Michele Soberri (Rugen) of Long Point. He is also survived by two step-children; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
