Carol Elaine Champion Obituary
Carol Elaine (Schafer) Champion, 74, of Oglesby, formerly of Lostant, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Amberwood Care Centre in Rockford.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant with Pastor Suzann Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Lostant. Visitation will be 2-5:00 PM Sunday and 10-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
Carol was born September 3, 1947 in Streator to Clifford and Emma (DeMoss) Schafer.
Carol was a member of Lostant United Methodist Church. She worked at Illini State Bank for over 25 years. She loved giraffes, jigsaw puzzles, musicals and the PBS television series, Downton Abbey. She also enjoyed watching college women's softball and high school basketball tournaments.
Survivors include two daughters, Wendy Champion of Woodridge and Stacy Zimmer of Mt. Horeb, WI; two grandchildren, Lindsay and Delany Zimmer; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her loving caregiver, Monica Hrovat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Florence Williams and her brothers, Art and Bill Schafer.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Rick Schafer, Mike Grubar, Jeff Grubar, Jeremy Grubar, Ken Williams and Craig Williams.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for memorials to be established.
