He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Joan Johnson; his son James D. Johnson, Jr.; his parents, Thomas Johnson and Nora Grace Johnson; his siblings, Sherial Johnson, Elmo Johnson, Delorn Johnson, Oral "Pete" Johnson, Odell Johnson, Gaylon Johnson, Billy Dean Johnson, Anna Belle Ferrell, Delores Anderson and Wilma Wilkinson; and his great grandchild Brody Miller.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debby Sommer (Dan) of O'Fallon and Patty Cavins (James) of O'Fallon; his brother Lorel Johnson of Ark; his grandchildren, Jamie Myers (Beth) of Boston, Mass., Kelly Miller (Brad) of O'Fallon, James D. Johnson III (Chrissy) of O'Fallon, Timothy Johnson (Amanda) of Farmington, Lisa Oberholz (Dustin) of Rosenburg, Tex, Cassie Mayer (Ryan) of Chicago and Alexi Cavins of Troy; and his great grandchildren, Kaleb, Emma, Camyle, Brynn Johnson, Braden, Boston Johnson, Colton, Amylia, Madeline, Charlotte Miller, Savannah Oberholz, Julian Myers, Jack and Nicholas Mayer.
