He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Cecil and Audrey Faye Slane (O'Dell); his wife Ellen Rebecca Spencer; his grandson Jabriel Leon Connely; his son-in-law Gary Connely; his siblings, LeRoy Slane and Linda Miller; and his nephew Ronald Slane.

He is survived by: his daughters, Martha Connely of Robinson, IL, Barbara (Robert Powers) and Victoria Slane (Patches Slane) of Robinson, IL; his grandchildren, Thaddeus "Shane" Connely, Tabitha R. Powers, Micheal W. Powers of Robert, N. J and Cecilia Rebecca Slane; his great grandchildren, Aaliyah Elaine Lovall and Lukas Wyatt Connely; his sister Marsha; and his brother-in-law Terry Paul of Newton, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
