He attended Quigley seminary and received his B.S. from Loyola and MBA from the University of Chicago. He was a career banker, starting in his teens as a runner. Later he managed the bank's transition to a computerized banking system, and eventually served as bank president. In retirement he returned to community service, lending his financial and management counsel to the Oak Park Tourism Bureau. He was a community activist, taking a lead role in the PTA in Oak Park and serving on the school board and as board president for Oak Park and River Forest High School. He was many things to many people. His treasured church family referred to him as a father, husband, friend, tenor, lector, liturgy music coordinator, humanitarian, Bazaar MC, encourager, comedian, writer and columnist. He was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and Notre Dame Fighting Irish and was honored to sing the National Anthem twice at Comiskey Park. He frequently corresponded with sports writers at both the Chicago Sun Times and Tribune, and often showed up in the op-ed section of the paper in response to political topics, always from the perspective of unity and individual rights. He was a lover of all performing arts, though his true passion was for opera. He was a constant beacon of hope and positivity, and will be greatly missed. Heaven is blessed with his presence and the heavenly choir with his tenor voice.
