He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Cloherty and Peggy Cloherty; his sister Maura Tierney (Padraig); and his siblings-in-law, Kevin Maher (Molly), John Maher (Eileen), Catriona Maher and Sheila Mortell (Tom).

He is survived by: his wife Maire (Maura) Cloherty (Née Maher); his sister Collette Dowley (late Noel); his sons, Colin (Nadine), Terry (Kathy), Albert (Colleen) and Kevin (Liz); and his grandchildren, Sean, Maeve, Aidan, Connor, Shane, Grace, Ryan and Kyle. He is also survived by his family as well as their extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
