He was predeceased by: his parents, Panagiotis Gianakas and Antigone Gianakas; his parents-in-law, Athanasios Kambylis and Constantina Kambylis; his siblings, Steven Gianakas (Matina), Fotini Pappas (late Panos) and Emmanuel Giannakakis (late Zaharoula); and his sibling-in-law Peter Kambylis.

He is survived by: his spouse Toula; his children, Antigone Lafazanos (Chris) and Constantina Gianakas; his siblings, George Gianakas (Bessie), Vaso Bouris (Efthemios), Pat Malfas (John), Barbara Roupas (Christ), James Giannakas (late Fotini), Stella Kostouros (Elias) and Voula Stoots (Robert); and his siblings-in-law, Georgia Liveris (late Demosthenes), John Kabilis (Toula), Magdalene Katsivelas (late Aristotelis), Kiki Anast (Louie) and Kalipso Drivas (Nick).
