He was predeceased by: his brother Dennis (Beth); and his parents, James P. Houk and Charlotte Augle (Edward). He is survived by: his spouse Jean; his children, James (Michelle Tracy), Jennifer White (Matthew), Janette Rickels and John (Michelle); his grandchildren, Delaney, Ainsley, Gavin, Payton, Owen, Joshua and Alexander; and his brothers, Raymond (Adrienne) and Rick (Sharon). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
